Why do women always watch Romantic Comedies?

I work at a movie rental store and women always rent romantic comedies like 13 going on 30, How to lose a guy in 10 days, 27 dresses etc.. Why do they like those movies. It seems like they are evolutionary wired to enjoy those movies.

We wish those things happened to us.

Sometimes I watch them when am in the mood for a relaxed night and a movie that I don't need to wreck my brains to figure out.

I prefer movies the type of Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven or The 13th Warrior. I also love Asian movies that include fantasy/martial arts like The Myth, Shinobi, Hero etc.

Don't say all women like these movies because personally there OK, not omg i need to go rent right now! but these movies are geared more towards women(just like the action packed are geared towards men). These movies relate to how woman feel and sometimes when were in a "the world hates us-i feel ugly-just need a good harmless romantic comedy mood-" we need these movies to cheer us up. I wouldn't try to question alot of things woman do. It's just something we do. (Also notice what men tend to rent more and you may be surprised that its action/porn/or something to do with something getting beat-blown up or stolen lol)

Everyone likes different things. Romantic comedies are made for women. I'm a female and I personally hate those kinds of movies. I love horror

Maybe because they guys on there are much better looking than the ones we are forced to look at in real life. Idk. I dont watch romantic comedies.

they're chick flicks... the two words "chick flick" used to categorize that type of movie have the word "chick" in them, therefore since girls are called chicks, girls like chick flicks! right? right?

Because we love romance, and most men don't even have that word in their vocabulary. It's the only way we get it.

Because our men ask us to but we take the blame in order to not rat them out!

its a culture thing

We like them.
