Why do so many women watch porn and why do they find it so absorbing?

Could it be down to depression?

I don't think watching porn is caused by depression. I watch it when I'm horny, not depressed.

What are you basing your hypothesis on? Many women? All women? And how do you define absorbing? What does that mean?

I'm sure some women like erotica, some women porn and some would define the two very differently or some very similarly! The thing is though porn is not produced for women or indeed by women in the main. So, what do women really want, like, or get turned on by? Everything we look at in that sphere is not meant for our gaze.

And to pathologise our gender by suggesting that because we may desire a visual stimulus sexually is symptomatic of depression is risible. Men watch porn because they are men, we watch it because we are borderline manic depressives! Good god! The one thing I dislike intensely about being a woman is the amount of self loathing that gets spewed about!

As hard as I tried, I cant take it seriously to the point of it being a turn on. Once my husband and I were watching a movie and this woman had a huge zit right on her butt, ever since then I spend the duration of the movie looking for zits or other embarrassing situations to laugh at. Besides my real sex life is way hotter then the scripted one on a porno.

it turns me on and i love it. i use it for sex and masturbation and to fuel my fantasies. watching porn and having lots of orgasms makes me far from depressed ;)

maybe we just enjoy a little porn from time to time! you dont have to be depressed to like porn, that's silly. my hubby and i use it for extra spiciness sometimes.

It's generally a turn on. And us women subconciously like to compare ourselves and those kinky kind, watch to learn new techniques.

Nothing wrong with women watching porn, men do it alot more im sure.

to tell you the truth, porn is not boring to me. I love it (and I'm only 15). I would love for that stuff to happen to me!!

I find het porn pretty dull, especially since I always find myself playing 'find the implants'. Gay porn with two guys is much more interesting to me.

Depression has nothing to do with it. Sex is physically and mentally stimulating. It's human nature.

The hard core porn(available in market) is one of the most boring and vomiting things I have ever watched. I can not stand it any more than 2 mins.

not all women dont like it, but for the girls who dont, its because men are more visually turned on than girls, girls get turned on more by love and romance, theyre more emotional

I find watching porn depressing. It's boring...and utterly fake.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I think it actually helped me hold off on sex. And I think that is a good thing.
